Senior AI Engineer

Econify is a NYC-based consulting and development firm composed of smart, motivated engineers. We partner with enterprise media and fintech clients to design, build, and scale complex systems. Our teams embed directly with product organizations to solve high-impact technical problems that reach millions of users.

We’re looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join one of our enterprise client engagements - working alongside some of the country’s most talented engineers on projects involving AI-powered applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, real-time data flows, and scalable architectures. You’ll help design and build production systems while mentoring developers and shaping best practices around LLM integration, evaluation, and deployment.

This position is ideal for a strong backend engineer ready to take the leap into a technical leadership role within a consulting environment.

Skills & Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (Python and/or TypeScript preferred).
• 2+ years building backend services (Node.js, FastAPI, or similar frameworks).
• Experience integrating and deploying Large Language Model APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar).
• Experience building or contributing to RAG pipelines (chunking, embeddings, retrieval strategies).
• Experience streaming data pipelines and real-time inference systems.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, S3, Bedrock, etc.).
• Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, pgvector).
• Familiarity with REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Familiarity with common CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in distributed client teams.

Bonus / Preferred Experience

It’s a plus if you’ve worked with or are interested in:

• Evaluation framework and LLM performance tuning.
• Fine-tuning models or working with open-source LLMs.
• Multi-step agent architectures or tool-using AI systems.
• Observability and monitoring for AI systems (logging, tracing, eval metrics).
• Data privacy, governance, or security considerations for AI applications.
• Prior consulting experience or direct client interaction.
